#thankful4 Wednesday: Travel

Image

I’m grateful for the ability to travel.  Not just in the sense of moving from one location to another, but in the broader sense of experiencing new things in their entirety:  sights, feelings, tastes, sounds, smells… Something about being in a place where I recognize absolutely nothing is extremely exhilarating to me.

 A lot of people seem to think they need money to “travel,” but if you think about it in the way I just described, there might be somewhere within your own town to “travel” to that you just didn’t know existed!  Just the other day I discovered a new park with a number of beautiful hiking trails right on the outskirts of my town; a ten minute drive away! I felt like I was traveling, even though it probably took less than a gallon of gas to get to this place.  You don’t “need money” to travel; just a sense of adventure and imagination, as well as an appreciation for the simple things – like those I mentioned above.

What are you thankful for today?

#thankful4 Wednesday: Ability to Think

Image

I searched the internet for a word that describes this “ability to think,” but I couldn’t find any exact matches.  So, more specifically some things I’m grateful for are humans’ ability to have creative ideas, solve problems, learn new things, and (somewhat) comprehend pretty crazy facts like the sheer immensity of the universe.  I’m grateful that we can talk to ourselves in our head, and that we can use reason and logic to figure things out, analyze the past and (somewhat) predict the future.

The human brain is truly amazing, and something to marvel at no matter where you think we came from.  Despite their numerous failings, our brains are capable of some very intriguing, remarkable stuff.  ❤

I think you should be grateful to have one, too!

Much love,
(;

#thankful4 Wednesday: Family Time

So, I don’t have a picture for my post today, because, as the title says, I’m having family time with my parents and siblings who live in another state! (And all I have with me is my good-for-internet-only-laptop..).  I’m so grateful every time I get to see my family, which you don’t really expect to be when you’re 16-18 and so ready to get out of the house. (;

I’m thankful that I’ve been blessed with such a close-knit, loving family, and five wonderful, amazing, talented and smart brothers and sisters.  (; I love them so much!

& I love you all as well,

#thankful4 Wednesday: My Hoops

For those of you who don’t know (which should be all of you, unless you got here from my Facebook) — I’m a hooper, or hoop-dancer, or whatever you want to call it.  I dance.. with hula-hoops. (;

I am so thankful for my hoops because they help to keep me sane — and healthy.  Getting lost in the flow of the music is one of the most uplifting feelings; I’m sure you get it with things like singing and playing instruments as well.  I would highly recommend hooping to anybody who wants to get healthy — mentally and physically.

Love,

#thankful4 Wednesday: Art

Image

Today, I am very grateful for art – something they say makes us human. I don’t just mean painting.  I mean sculpting, singing, making music, dancing, taking pictures, writing, beat boxing, drawing, landscaping, designing clothes, rapping and any other way of creatively expressing yourself that exists – I’m sure there are many more.

I used to think that creativity was a gift that certain people were blessed with and that I wasn’t one of them.  I thought I “had no creativity.”  I couldn’t have been more wrong! I have plenty of creativity, and so does every human being on earth.  You just have to find your own brand of it.  (:

I hope you can take some time to appreciate the many different forms of art that exist in the world after reading this post.  It’s as diverse and beautiful as We are.
