#thankful4 Wednesday: Ability to Think

Image

I searched the internet for a word that describes this “ability to think,” but I couldn’t find any exact matches.  So, more specifically some things I’m grateful for are humans’ ability to have creative ideas, solve problems, learn new things, and (somewhat) comprehend pretty crazy facts like the sheer immensity of the universe.  I’m grateful that we can talk to ourselves in our head, and that we can use reason and logic to figure things out, analyze the past and (somewhat) predict the future.

The human brain is truly amazing, and something to marvel at no matter where you think we came from.  Despite their numerous failings, our brains are capable of some very intriguing, remarkable stuff.  ❤

I think you should be grateful to have one, too!

Much love,
(;

#thankful4 Wednesday: Rain

Image

Anybody who knows me knows I am a sun-kind of girl.  Where I live, in the springtime, it will sometimes stay cloudy and rainy for weeks straight, and I usually get really moody and depressed as a result.  I need sunlight.

However, here for the past 3+ weeks, it hasn’t rained a drop – until today.  I never thought I could be so happy to see the rain!  When it started raining I rolled my car’s window down and stuck my head outside just to feel the water on my face.  When I got home and stepped out of the car the smell of the rain was overwhelming – in a very good way.  Today – though it is unusual for me – I am very thankful for the rain.  (And I’m sure my garden is, too.)

#thankful4 Wednesday: Living in the 21st Century

Image

I am Thankful to be living in the time period that I do.*  (:

Though I do often think of time-traveling and how cool it would be to live a thousand years ago or a thousand years from now, I am happy to have been born when I was.  My generation got to grow up during a time of major transition for humanity: that from a (relatively) unconnected society to one where internet and cell phone use pervades our entire culture.

The world has never before seen this kind of ability for people to connect instantaneously with strangers who live thousands of miles away, and to exchange opinions the way people do here on WordPress and other social media sites like Facebook, Reddit and Twitter.  The fact that we carry devices that fit in our pockets and allow us to do such things is truly amazing – like something people a hundred years ago probably couldn’t have even dreamed about.  Though I know all kinds of interesting things have happened since the human species came into existence, I’m very happy that I get to experience the crazy things that I do living in the 21st century.

(:
